With strong support for the lower speed by local traders, City Council has announced that Boundary Street will become a 40kph speed zone.
According to local Councillor Helen Abrahams, “Council’s proposal for 40 kph speed limits in suburban shopping strips was subject to support from local traders.â€
“A survey was conducted last year, and I am sure the follow up by myself and West End Traders Association President Peter Marinelli made sure as many traders as possible got their survey forms in by the due date.”
“The signs are being produced and they should be in place in three weeks timeâ€
“It is a great outcome†said Cr Abrahams
“The lower speed zone will improve the safety for all road users as well as improve the general ambience in the street by reducing noise and vehicle emissions “ said Cr Abrahams.
“It is a great way to retain the village atmosphere of Boundary Street’ said Helen.
